Its official, we wrapped up our very first home show this past weekend. Overall we saw a great turn out and got to speak with many interested homeowners, business owners and developers. What was great about exhibiting at this year's New England Home Show in Boston at the Seaport World Trade Center was being able to quickly showcase our Services to those who were interested and feature our Portfolio of projects as reference. LONG, LONG DAYS OF EXHIBITINGGiven our work environment features more online collaboration through multiple consultants and designers, I wanted to best represent the company as the architect available for questions. What surprised me a little was how "impressed" some people were that I wasn't a Sales Rep for the company in comparison to many of the other design / build firms that were present. I had one guy come up to me and say "So your Neil? Your the guy? Hey, he's the guy!"
FRIDAY, WAS A SLOW DAYThe start to the home show was a little slow considering it was during work hours. However it gave us an opportunity to not only recover from the "tools free" setup but also to sketch some images.
OVERALL A GREAT TIMEI got a chance to meet many people interested in a forthcoming project (hopefully they reach out to me) and we'll see what 2016 brings 8TFive Studio.
Once again a special thanks to Chris with Stonefish Workshop for assisting with the design of our exhibit booth graphic and web banner. Find our more about the company as one of our consultants we featured in the following: You can also find the video displayed at our booth featured here: For the second year we have revised and submitted our business plan executive summary to Charrette Ventures Group's 2016 Architecture Business Plan Competition. This is a great venue to continue to develop and stay on-top of business strategies for the firm. Sort of a kick in the butt from other tasks that get put on the shelf for "when I have time". CREATING THE MESSAGERevamping our 2015 business plan which focused on attempting to capture a broad spectrum of strategies and summaries ... we fine tuned the focus. The interview below provides a glimpse into why the firm was started, the issue we are attempting to resolve and how we might do so.
BENEFITS OF DESIGN ANALYSISLast month we engage with a structural engineer from Australia through our Google+ page on how architects are using Building Information Modeling. Ultimately, we realized that showcasing some of the analysis and performance data behind the use of our designs rather than just the visualization of them would further help provide insight for potential clients.
So look for upcoming blog posts to feature more analysis oriented material to show exactly HOW we use this technology to offer clients greater depth of knowledge to ultimately make more informed design decisions early on ... saving time and cost in the long run. If you are interested to find out what other technology we use or have our eye on moving into the future, we are more than willing to share the knowledge we've come across. Contact Us. Excited to announce that we will be attending this year's New England Home Show at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, MA. Come join us and check out the venue as there will be lots of great local vendors, suppliers and contractors on hand to visit. Don't forget to stop by our booth #801 and see how we can help you plan for and design any possible home renovation or new construction project you had in mind. We'll be featuring two large screen TV's with our Portfolio Images, 3D models, virtual walk-through of our Featured Residential new construction house. See how our design process and technical know-how on building information modeling can help inform and enhance a home project.
