Finding the right client who understands not only the process for construction but has an appreciation for the level of detail in design to craft a fantastic house ... is - well - ideal! We are excited to have been contacted by a great couple that found us off our Houzz.com profile. We responded immediately as we typically do and after an initial consultation that SAME DAY, our estimate and bid as well as responsiveness, energy and passion for 3D and sustainable design had ultimately won the client over. * updated as of February 2019 We usually offer these complementary consultations over the phone, email or on-site as needed to properly assess the project as part of our regular Services. We are glad it did because we were very excited to help bring to life this project. Continuing reading to find out more details below.
Excited to announce we are seeing a lot more inquiries into design and drafting Services lately. I can only assume that after about 2 years of establishment the name is finally getting out in the market as we receive many referrals from either past clients or networking events. Some online requests have also followed from our Houzz page and Yelp as well.
Several smaller projects including a garage addition to a commercial facility in Lakeville, MA as well as potentially another in-law suite addition to a house in Bridgewater, MA. Negotiations are also well underway for a fantastic master bathroom renovation which we are hoping to partner with Virginia DesRoches on the interior renovation. Projects for a complete renovation in New Bedford, MA which the client was gutting the interior and flipping the interior to rent out and repair an old abandoned home is submitted for permitting. The master bedroom / bathroom addition we designed in Newton, MA has also primarily wrapped up the latest phase of design work ended into contractor bidding for construction.
BECOMING LICENSED IN RHODE ISLANDThis latest project in Tiverton, RI has prompted the transfer of architectural licensure to the state of Rhode Island as we are actively members of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). As such, owner Neil Silva's registered architect status in Massachusetts can easily be carried over into any other state in the United States. All be it "easy" meaning filling out paperwork and paying fees and dues, then yes "easy".
We have been working with a client in Newton, MA on developing a plan to renovate their existing 3rd floor into a new master bedroom and bathroom. The challenge is that the old space upstairs is really an odd combination of low roof slopes, stairway and wall placements. To top it off the zoning regulations will be critical in reviewing to maximize the potential square footage they are allowed based upon Floor Area Ratio and the limitations they set on a single family residence zoned not to exceed 2.5 stories. Part of our regular Services as a licensed architect in the state of Massachusetts is to review and plan accordingly with local building departments to ensure an optimized and well thought out design for any renovation, new construction or addition. UPDATE (05/20/16):After several rounds of exploring possible options for the layout of the half story addition and renovation, we were able to identify a fantastic plan that works the best for our client.
Thrilled with the new opportunity to enhance their existing living space, the homeowners are seeking out qualified contractors in there area to undertake the job. As part of our services, we provide 3D perspectives and quick spatial views to help visualize rooms. Below are some images we put together for the client as well as an added level of detail for the contractors to understand the intent of the interior elevations. |
