2016 Year in Review

12/19/2016

Comments

I realize I haven't had a ton of time to jump online here to update the blog as there have been many aspects to our business that have started to grow. So I just wanted to take the time upon coming to a close in 2016 to reflect a little on the past year as well as mention some things that I haven't been able to cover in past posts this year.

Continuing reading to find out more details below.

UPDATE ON PAST PROJECTS

The house previously posted about in Lakeville will be set to begin construction in the spring of 2017. I'll be providing construction administration on the project to ensure the project gets built as the client antcipates.

Since the project is a major renovation and basically new construction, the homeowner wanted less time having to observe progress themselves and want to trust in a professional to check in on construction.

The end design image is below:

Other projects that have been done but not posted on the blog here would be a porch deck addition with several design options in Dartmouth, MA.

A proposed entryway and adjacent renovation for a property in Franklin, MA.

A garage addition to a Commercial project in Lakeville, MA.

Interior design renovation in the Easton, MA area to create a more open floor plan for the family to utilize. A great little project I'm excited to see completed.

For others I might have missed or to see some images of these projects, check out our Residential portfolio to find more.

REPEAT CLIENT PROJECTS

I have a fantastic relationship with a great non-profit organization who will be looking to expand their facilities next year. After several conversations, we decided to proceed forward with undertaking a LEED certified building.

This will be our first LEED building. It'll be a 14,000sf three story administration building with mulit-use occupancy. As of a month ago the design is a more traditional take to evoke a sense of position within the campus.

This project I'm sure will be posted on again as the design has developed with a really nice working floor plan to meet the needs of the client from both a functional and aesthetic standpoint.

The rendering above was provided to the client for early coordination with fundraising efforts as well as board discussions and approval. From here the design has been coordinated with civil engineering and begun structural analysis.

Currently in Design Development, the overall building is being assess for further ways of adjustments to improve the daily occupancy of its inhabitants.

LEED design and building certification is not only just energy efficiency driven but also how occupants utilize the space to best improve productivity and happiness.

PROJECTS IN THE WORKS

We have several residential buildings in the works including a major renovation to a home by the lake in Taunton that we're very excited about. Potentially a new home construction project in Dartmouth, MA that may come about. Another new construction house in the Dighton area and several projects working with an Architect out in the San Francisco area in California.

We've been in talks with Virginia DesRoches from a recently launched new DIY network show 'Family Builds' on several project collaborations but clients haven't proceeded forward on either our end of hers for a few of them. Although one project that was referred by Virginia was this interior renovation project for a fantastic client in Brockton, MA.

PUBLICATIONS

Speaking of television shows, I was approached by and in talks with a producer from the Front Page Profile series hosted by James Earl Jones to be a guest speaker on a project they're working on about innovative and emerging technology focusing on sustainability.

Yea, a little down my alley but will know more about this in the weeks to come.
Houzz
Our Houzz profile has also been receiving some positive feedback. Thanks to all our clients who have shared your experiences.

We are in the running for Houzz Service award for 2016 which should be announced soon.

Hopefully in 2017, I will be better about posting more regularly on our blog to share with you any news about if we receive the award.

But regardless, I love working with each of my clients and look forward to many more.

HOME IDEAS HQ

Finally to touch upon one of my on-going projects, the professional website I developed for homeowners to connect and get informed by designers will be getting a major development in 2017.

I have consulted with a developer and manager to oversee the production of regular daily content as well as optimizing its exposure to homeowners.

One of the most popular articles this year was "20 Tiny Houses for Living in Small Homes" which received over 100,000+ views and 500+ shares ...

At this moment, we're interviewing interior designers and other professionals for consideration to begin posting about 50 articles a month.

This will be supplemented by myself who will also be continuing to contribute based upon the newly developed article template and SEO settings.

My expectation is to build a platform that encourages inspiration and shares knowledge to the average homeowner who could more easily connect with professionals to discuss more about any project they are considering.

I was tired of seeing similar "home idea" websites that were merely based off showcasing other designer who with little insight into its concept, a review of its construction or simple analysis of the design.

The homeowner should be duly informed while quickly gaining inspiration and ideas for their projects. Its about information and images - not just clicks.

THANK YOU 2016 & WELCOME 2017

To summarize since our begining 2 years ago, the business has grown 30% each year and hopefully 2017 will be no different (or better). Here is a quick look at some other projects we've completed in 2016 ranging from small additions, new construction and interior designs.
