Its official, we wrapped up our very first home show this past weekend. Overall we saw a great turn out and got to speak with many interested homeowners, business owners and developers.
What was great about exhibiting at this year's New England Home Show in Boston at the Seaport World Trade Center was being able to quickly showcase our Services to those who were interested and feature our Portfolio of projects as reference.
LONG, LONG DAYS OF EXHIBITING
Given our work environment features more online collaboration through multiple consultants and designers, I wanted to best represent the company as the architect available for questions.
What surprised me a little was how "impressed" some people were that I wasn't a Sales Rep for the company in comparison to many of the other design / build firms that were present.
I had one guy come up to me and say "So your Neil? Your the guy? Hey, he's the guy!"
FRIDAY, WAS A SLOW DAY
The start to the home show was a little slow considering it was during work hours. However it gave us an opportunity to not only recover from the "tools free" setup but also to sketch some images.
OVERALL A GREAT TIME
I got a chance to meet many people interested in a forthcoming project (hopefully they reach out to me) and we'll see what 2016 brings 8TFive Studio.
Once again a special thanks to Chris with Stonefish Workshop for assisting with the design of our exhibit booth graphic and web banner. Find our more about the company as one of our consultants we featured in the following:

For the second year we have revised and submitted our business plan executive summary to Charrette Ventures Group's 2016 Architecture Business Plan Competition.
This is a great venue to continue to develop and stay on-top of business strategies for the firm. Sort of a kick in the butt from other tasks that get put on the shelf for "when I have time".
CREATING THE MESSAGE
Revamping our 2015 business plan which focused on attempting to capture a broad spectrum of strategies and summaries ... we fine tuned the focus. The interview below provides a glimpse into why the firm was started, the issue we are attempting to resolve and how we might do so.
BENEFITS OF DESIGN ANALYSIS
Last month we engage with a structural engineer from Australia through our Google+ page on how architects are using Building Information Modeling. Ultimately, we realized that showcasing some of the analysis and performance data behind the use of our designs rather than just the visualization of them would further help provide insight for potential clients.
So look for upcoming blog posts to feature more analysis oriented material to show exactly HOW we use this technology to offer clients greater depth of knowledge to ultimately make more informed design decisions early on ... saving time and cost in the long run.
If you are interested to find out what other technology we use or have our eye on moving into the future, we are more than willing to share the knowledge we've come across. Contact Us.
Excited to announce that we will be attending this year's New England Home Show at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, MA.
Come join us and check out the venue as there will be lots of great local vendors, suppliers and contractors on hand to visit. Don't forget to stop by our booth #801 and see how we can help you plan for and design any possible home renovation or new construction project you had in mind.
We'll be featuring two large screen TV's with our Portfolio Images, 3D models, virtual walk-through of our Featured Residential new construction house. See how our design process and technical know-how on building information modeling can help inform and enhance a home project.

I was recently referred to a business networking group called Business Networking International (BNI) as a way to grow contacts and referrals. We attended several meetings in the area in New Bedford, Lakeville and Wareham and highly recommend it to other growing businesses.

PROVEN MODEL OF SUCCESS
Once again just talking to current and even past members, the success of building exposure to the business seems to be worth the investment in time and expenses. This was an important issue for what we were considering in a networking group.
We didn't want to waste our time or join a group that would hardly see a return on investment.
BNI seemed like it would be the greatest value with the most success generating leads.
We're happy to share our experiences in detail on either BNI group specifically or just about the other networking events and groups we've visited.
Feel free to Contact Us if you'd like to know more.
To engage more individuals in the business of construction, we decided to attend an open house at the Rhode Island Builder's Association.
One suggestion that came from our marketing consultant Taylor Kloss was to attend more networking events. Even though its one of those things you know you should do but just need to have someone tell you to get out there ... well this was one of those situations.

We found it to be very informative and a great organization. In addition to providing educational opportunities and resources for professionals, Rhode Island Builder's Association (RIBA) had a great assembly of individuals associated with the field of construction.
It is definitely an organization we will be considering joining especially to participate in the well attended annual Rhode Island Home Show convention hosted by RIBA.
NEW CLIENT AFTER EVENT
As a result of attending the open house at RIBA, we were able to connect with a property management company that was in need of some architectural documentation work.
Once they found out more About Us and our Services we began work on their project.
